I make high-end documentaries on cultural subjects: the most recent being a ninety minute film for BBC 2, Off by Heart: Shakespeare, made in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company. My most well-known documentaries are J.K. Rowling: A Year in the Life which followed the writer as she completed the last Harry Potter novel; My Father, a profile of Lord Runcie, the 102nd Archbishop of Canterbury: Shanghai Jim, a film which took J.G. Ballard back to China for the first time since the experiences described in ‘Empire of the Sun’; Miss Pym's Day Out, a drama documentary with Patricia Routledge, which won a Royal Television Society Award and was nominated for a Bafta; and Hilary Mantel: A Culture Show special.

I've also worked extensively with a number of writers and presenters, most notably Alain de Botton, Bill Buford, Niall Ferguson, Robert Hughes, Tristram Hunt, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Shena Mackay, Andrew Motion, Griff Rhys Jones, Simon Schama, David Starkey, and Simon Thurley.
